Submission sent to the House of Bishops

Posted on by Benny

Earlier this year, the Church of England House of Bishops began a review into the Church’s approach to LGB&T issues.

The Human Sexuality Working Group is chaired by Sir Joseph Pilling.  The other members of the Group are the Bishop of Gloucester, the Rt Rev Michael Perham, the Bishop of Birkenhead, the Rt Rev Keith Sinclair, the Bishop of Ebbsfleet, the Rt Rev Jonathan Baker and the Bishop of Warwick, the Rt Rev John Stroyan.

Their task is to gather together evidence of how the Church of England has listened to the experience of LGB&T people over the last 14 years, and produce a consultation document in 2013 for the House of Bishops.

It is not clear what kind of document this will be, but we hope that it will provide a way for the CofE to move beyond the current impasse.

The Working Group asked for submission by the end of May which will then be considered before moving on to face to face meetings with some of those who have contributed.

So Accepting Evangelicals has made a submission which you can find on our Resources page or by following this link.

While you are there, please visit the Resources page which we are in the process of developing as a quick way of finding material which we and others have published.  There is already a new section linking to our Bible Focus series, and there will soon be a section on same-sex marriage.
